After playing 15 games on the road to start the season, the Madison College softball team got a rude welcome home from Rock Valley College.
Fifth-ranked Rock Valley swept Madison College during its home-opening doubleheader on March 30, beating the WolfPack by the run-rule in both games.
In the first game, Madison College fell 12-3 in six innings. The second game saw the WolfPack lose, 12-0, in five innings.
Since those losses, Madison College has split a doubleheader against Joliet Junior College on April 3.
Madison College won the first game, 4-2, after scoring three runs in the first inning.
Hayden Schabel opened the scoring with a double that drove in Sadie Svendsen.
Raegen Schwarz then hit a two-run home run to give the WolfPack a 3-0 lead.
In the fourth inning, Cathryn Zegaldo hit a solo home run to help secure the win.
Lauren Etienne pitched a complete game to earn the win, improving her season record to 4-1.
The second game was a different story as Madison College fell, 12-4, in six innings.
Madison College tied the game at 4-4 in the top of the fourth inning, but Joliet scored four runs in the bottom half of the inning and four more in the sixth to end the game.
Cassie Coffey had two hits including a home run to lead the WolfPack. Shelby Brooks and Kelsey Meverdern also had two hits in the game.
Madison College now stands at 10-8 overall and doesn’t play at home again until April 14, when it hosts a doubleheader with Triton College starting at 3 p.m.

Madison College 16, South Suburban College 1
An 11-run fifth inning gave Madison College a run-rule 16-1 victory over South Suburban College on March 29 in the first game of a doubleheader. Sadie Svendsen led the WolfPack with three hits, including a triple and a double.
South Suburban College 9, Madison College 6
South Suburban College scored three runs in the bottom seventh inning with a walk-off home run to beat Madison College, 9-6, in the second game of a doubleheader. Cassie Coffey had three hits to lead the WolfPack, while Raegen Schwarz had two hits including a home run.
Madison College 10, Kishwaukee College 1
After going scoreless for the first four innings, Madison College scored twice in the fifth inning and eight times in the sixth inning to beat Kishwaukee College, 10-1, in the first game of a doubleheader on March 25. Sadie Svendsen had four hits and scored twice to lead the WolfPack.
Madison College 5, Kishwaukee College 4
A sixth-inning run scored off a wild pitch gave Madison College a 5-4 victory over Kishwaukee in the second game of their doubleheader. Cassie Coffey led the team with three hits, including two doubles.
State Fair College 9, Madison College 3
State Fair College broke open a close game with five runs in the fifth inning to beat Madison College, 9-3, on March 17. Sadie Svendsen and Macie Studzinski both had two hits in the game.
Madison College 16, Onondaga Community College 3
Cassie Coffey went 4 for 4 with a triple while Torin Saughter went 3 for 3 with a double as they led Madison College to a 16-3 victory over Onondaga Community College on March 17.
Madison College 14, Oakton College 0
A 14-hit effort propelled Madison College to a 14-0 victory over Oakton College on March 17.
Sadie Svendsen led the team with four hits, three runs scored and two runs batted in. Lauryn Etienne pitched a complete game, allowing four hits and striking out 10.
Madison College 5, Mohawk Valley College 4
Madison College had a dominant start, scoring all five of its runs in the first inning as it beat Mohawk Valley College, 5-4, on March 15. Gretta Lewis got the win on the mound striking out eight while allowing just three hits.
Lackawanna College 8, Madison College 1
Madison College had seven hits but only scored once as it fell to Lackawanna College, 8-1, on March 15. Shelby Brooks and Cassie Coffey had two hits in the game.
Madison College 8, USC-Sumter 3
Hayden Schabel went 4 for 4 with two doubles and four runs batted in as Madison College beat USC-Sumter, 8-3, on March 14
St. Charles Community College 10, Madison College 9
After rallying to a 9-7 lead in the fifth inning, Madison College allowed three runs in the bottom of the sixth to fall to St. Charles Community College, 10-9, on March 13.
Sadie Svendsen led the team with two hits, including an inside the park home run.
Henry Ford College 2, Madison College 1
Madison College was held to four hits in a 2-1 loss to Henry Ford College on March 13. Addalyn Henderson scored the team’s only run as the WolfPack was held to just four hits in the game.
Madison College 4, Patrick & Henry Community College 2
Gretta Lewis pitched a complete game in her first career start, striking out three and only allowing seven hits and two runs as Madison College recorded a 4-2 win against Patrick and Henry Community College on March 12.
Madison College 2, PSU DuBois 1
Sophie Golembiewski pitched five innings allowing just four hits and one run in Madison College’s 2-1 victory over PSU DuBois on March 12. Shelby Brooks and Aubrey Juga had two hits for the WolfPack.
