The Studio Faculty Showcase brought the work of Madison College instructors into the Gallery at Truax, giving students, faculty and community members a chance to see the artists behind the classroom instruction.
The exhibit, which ran March 23 through April 17, featured a range of work including sculptures, paintings, mixed media pieces and photography. The opening reception drew a solid crowd of faculty and students, with several staff artists present to speak about their work.
More than a gallery display, the showcase served as a reminder that Madison College art instructors are not only teaching technique, composition and creative process, but actively practicing those skills themselves.
The work on display reflected the experience faculty bring into programs including Arts and Humanities transfer courses and photography, giving students a look at the creative standards being modeled in their own classrooms.
The faculty showcase has since closed, but the Gallery at Truax is now featuring the Yahara Journal Student Art Show.
Students, staff and community members should stop by and take a look at the work currently on display.
