ScaryLand is, um …, SCARY fun!

Experiencing haunted houses takes a certain level of bravery, to some it’s nothing, but for someone like me going to a haunted house is a test of endurance. I took to Wisconsin ScaryLand to do just that.

Despite my efforts of trying to prepare myself by searching the internet for videos of this scary house, nothing could have prepared me for the bone chilling ride I had to face. From my experience, they wanted you to get your money’s worth by scaring the living daylights out of you. Upon getting out of my car I was chased by a creepy clown whose face and voice told years of experience in terrorizing those who dared enter.

If it weren’t bad enough  to be scared before you even started the haunted house, a great deal of the workers gained enjoyment  out of tormenting you while you wait to enter this house of terrors.

From the random firecrackers to the stench of rotting wood and skunk  it was enough to drive me mad and send me out crying and quaking in fear.

Because not everyone holds the same opinion, I interviewed Sonnet Sin one of the many workers at Wisconsin ScaryLand. Sonnet considers herself to be a horror enthusiast, so I asked her who she chose as a persona and what influenced her decision.

“The trick about WISL (Wisconsin ScaryLand) is that there’s so much room for modifications and personalization,” she said. “WISL has a different theme between last year and this year, for example; last year we had some ‘Silent Hill’ ideas and characters. For those people their persona was chosen. However, this year everyone has their own general character. If you’re in a carnival area, you’re a clown but you get to choose what kind of clown!”

For Sonnet she chose to be a broken porcelain marionette doll.

“An important part of picking your character is matching your new character to your actual personality traits,” she said.

I would recommend if you or anyone you know likes to be frightened in ways you’ve never thought possible, go to Wisconsin ScaryLand!

And if you’d like to go, visit them at www.wisconsinscaryland.com. Tickets are $19.99 so it is a bit pricey but it’s worth the cost.
