Madison College students Selah Fedosky and Hassan Hashmi were recently selected to the prestigious 2026 All-USA Academic Team and received New Century scholarships. 

Fedosky was named a New Century Workforce Pathway Scholar, while Hashmi was honored as a New Century Transfer Pathway Scholar. Both students received a $1,500 scholarship award sponsored by The Coca-Cola Foundation and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Only one student per state is selected for each pathway. 

Fedosky and Hashmi were also selected for the All-USA Academic Team, one of the nation’s top honors for students pursuing an associate degree. Chosen from more than 2,300 nominees nationwide, they will each receive a $3,000 scholarship in recognition of their academic achievement, leadership and community engagement. 

Fedosky is a student in the Fire Protection Technician program who also works at the college as a peer tutor. He also serves as an EMT at Belleville Area EMS. 

  Hashmi, a biology transfer student, serves as a student liaison to the District Board, vice president of the Muslim Student Association, and an NSF S-STEM Scholar while working and volunteering in both campus and community initiatives, including animal science research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. 

New Century Scholars are selected based on academic accomplishments, leadership, and how they extend their intellectual talents beyond the classroom. The All-USA Academic Team recognizes students for excellence in scholarship, leadership, and service, as well as their ability to make meaningful contributions to their communities. 

  Fedosky and Hashmi were recognized at Phi Theta Kappa’s annual convention in March and will be honored at the American Association of Community Colleges’ convention in April.
