Illusion in the Cafe

Daniel Herron, Multimedia Editor

On Thursday, Aug. 29, the Truax Cafeteria played host to the illusionist and mindreader Christopher Carter.  I had the opportunity to talk to Mr. Carter afterward to discuss his 21 years of crafting illusions for audiences around America and the world.

Carter got into illusion early studying body language and cold reading while he was still in middle school.  In high school, he was hypnotized and found his calling in life.  By college he had landed himself an internship with a hypnotherapist and was on his way to becoming a professional.

Carter makes a living performing at for audiences around the world.  He averages 150 college performances a year in addition to the fifty or so corporate events he performs.  In spite of this busy schedule, he said he still loves his job.  Travel has become somewhat tedious, he expressed. The business end of things can be a bit dull sometimes, but he still enjoys performing as much as he did when he started.

His performance at the Truax Campus was amazing, but you’ll get no details of what went on here.  If you want to see his act, you’ll have to catch it yourself.
