Valentine’s Day can kiss it

Valentine’s Day, aka the worst day of the entire year, will be here soon. Not only is this mushy, lovey-dovey holiday a pain to any single person, it also takes love and commercializes it.

No matter how many stuffed animals and chocolates you give to a person on Valentine’s Day, you can’t it compare to genuine human connection.

Instead of using Valentine’s Day to show people how much we appreciate and care about someon by telling them what they do that makes us happy and helping them have a good day, we throw presents at them so we don’t have to say how we feel.

What started out as a sweet sentiment has snowballed into a bad example.

We are teaching our children that everything can be fixed by giving someone a gift on one specific day and that love can be found in the seasonal department of a grocery store.

Wouldn’t you rather have the younger generation learn to share their emotions throughout the year rather than try and avoid them.

Love has become a dirty word that carries a lot of baggage for Americans and is considered not something to discuss. If we are unable to let each other know how we feel, then we are no better than robots and rocks that feel nothing at all.
