The WOLFIES were held April 24 inside Mitby Theater as the Madison College Athletic Department’s 59th Annual Athletic Awards Banquet. The Wolfie Awards, in its third year of existence, celebrated current student-athletes, coaches, and staff for their athletic and academic achievements. 

The special awards presented at this year’s banquet were: 

Madison College Sportspeople of the Year – Kendall Weik, softball, and JP Pleasant, men’s basketball. 

Madison College Scholar-Athletes – Mirella Zielke, women’s soccer, and James Duncan, baseball. 

Big Dog Spirit Award – Charlie Shau, baseball; Amir Ford, men’s basketball; Maia Ellis, women’s basketball; Riley Woyach and Ethan Transue, esports; Matthew Haggart, golf; Carter Uhlmann, men’s soccer; Yessenia Angeles, women’s soccer; Jenna Johnson, softball; Tricia Klum, volleyball. 

Leadership Award – James Duncan, baseball; Cullen Rauls, men’s basketball; Hannah Solie, women’s basketball; Sean Lahey and Paul Lucero, esports; Matthew Haggart, golf; Damo Lovell, men’s soccer; Jerzey Ladwig, women’s soccer; Kendall Weik, softball; Addyson McHugh, volleyball. 

Comeback Athlete Award – Courtney Gorum, volleyball; Carson Klaus and Nick West, baseball. 

Rookies of the Year – Dani Latz, women’s basketball; Carson McCormick, men’s basketball. 

In addition, several team awards for the fall and winter sports were presented. Spring sports awards will be presented after the season. 

Most Improved Players – Wil Dietrich, men’s basketball; Jaida Gaskins, women’s basketball; Celeste House and Jaewon Lim, esports; Ben Arnett, golf; Junior Guerro, men’s soccer; Kaelyn Welch, women’s soccer; Faith Radecke, women’s volleyball. 

Most Valuable Award – JP Pleasant, men’s basketball; Dani Latz, women’s basketball; Bhim Gurung and Paul Lucero, esports; Peter Gustafson, golf; Rodrigo Lasso, men’s soccer; Suzy Hinds Cruz, women’s soccer; Addyson McHugh, women’s volleyball.

• Women’s basketball – Unsung Hero Award, Keelyn Zwirschitz.
