Public Safety

Public+Safety

By Sgt. Joe Steffen & Dispatcher David Manthey

Public Safety Officers respond to many calls for service and we communicate our activities to the college community.  Here are some of the notable incidents from the past couple weeks.

On Nov. 1, Public Safety and the Madison Police Department took a report of a vehicle break-in that occurred the night before in Student Parking Lot K.  No items were taken from the vehicle and no suspects have been identified.

On Nov. 3, an officer initiated contact with a suspicious person in the lower parking lot area of the Downtown Campus.  The suspect, who is not a Madison College student, was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia by the Madison Police Department and removed from campus for trespassing.

On Nov. 7, Public Safety Officers responded to a student having a medical emergency in the Student Achievement Center.  Officers rendered aid to the student until Madison Paramedics arrived to further evaluate them.

On Nov. 11, Public Safety received several complaints of a man going through staff offices.  Two cell phones were stolen.  The suspect left campus after being confronted by staff.  Madison Police and Public Safety searched the surrounding area but did not locate the suspect.  This incident is still being investigated.  Please remember to lock your desks and office doors any time you leave your work area.
