On March 23, the Portage Campus Engagement Committee held its first ever Spring Fest. The group asked students to answer one trivia question for a chance to win a one night stay at the Kalahari Hotel in Wisconsin Dells. Everyone who participated in the game got to enter the drawing.

The Engagement Committee seized the opportunity to ask one of the most common question asked by financial aid: What is your student ID number?

In the days leading up to the grand prize drawing, the Engagement Committee had given out more than 100 free t-shirts for school pride, and to say thank you for choosing the Madison Area Technical College Portage Campus.

The group also offered a meal provided by Jimmy Johns and was joined by Wolfie, John Alt, the campus executive director, and Scott Beard, the regional campus manager.

The Engagement Committee feels that students have busy schedules, which prevents them from having fun, social interactions at school. This led to the decision to create these types of events for the students and staff of the Portage Campus as an opportunity to connect with each other and with themselves.

It also offers an opportunity for students and staff to visit and enjoy each other’s company without a book between them, which in turn, helps with viewing each other as equals and not as student and instructors.
