Big second half turns the tide in a victory against Rockford JV

The Madison College men’s basketball team defeated Rockford University, 95-76, after being tied at 48 at halftime.
Keith Hoffman led the team in scoring with 26 points, along with 11 rebounds. Cortez Telfered and Nik Feller both scored 16 points. Deante Luster also had 15 points and nine rebounds.
After the game, Madison College coach Jason Roscoe said that the team played good defense and distributed the ball well. He highlighted the performances of Deante Luster and Nik Feller.
When asked what the team needs to work on, Roscoe said, “We need to continue to get better defensively and put two halves together.”
Madison College now stands at 5-4 overall, with two more home games before the holiday break. The WolfPack will host Prairie State College on Dec. 3 and Kishwaukee College on Dec. 10.

Carl Sandburg College 87, Madison College 81
After holding a slim two-point lead at halftime, Madison College fell to Carl Sandburg College, 87-81, in a close battle on Nov. 19. Hoffman led Madison College with 25 points and eight rebounds. Luster added 15 points, while Feller scored 13.

Madison College 77, College of Lake County 58
Defense came up big in the closing minutes as Madison College held Lake County to just six points in the final seven minutes to win, 77-58, at home on Nov. 15.
Hoffman scored 14 points and had nine rebounds to lead the WolfPack. Three other Madison College players reached double digits in scoring, with Feller netting 13 and Telfered and Deontae Luster both scoring 12.

Bay College 73, Madison College 69
Trailing by 14 points with just over three minutes left in the game, Madison College battled back and pulled within three points with 12 seconds left after Feller sank a 3-point shot. But Bay College dropped in a free throw and put the brakes on the WolfPack rally to win, 73-69, on Nov. 12.
Feller and Hoffman both scored 17 points to lead Madison College. In addition, Hoffman had a team-high 11 rebounds. Also in double figures scoring was Luster, with 11 points, and Telin Porter, with 10 points.

Madison College 82, North Central Michigan College 80 (OT)
A 45-point second half helped Madison College rally to an 82-80 overtime victory over North Central Michigan College in the Bay College Classic on Nov. 11.
Peter Gustafson scored 15 of his career-high 17 points in the second half, while Feller stayed hot scoring 13 of his team-high 24 points in the half as well.
In the overtime, it was all Hoffman as the second-year player scored seven of his team’s 10 points, including the game-winner with 19 seconds left.

Madison College 80, Dubuque University JV 71 (2OT)
A career night for sophomore Cortez Telfered lifted Madison College to a double-overtime win against Dubuque University JV, 80-71, on Nov. 9. Telfered scored 32 points and had nine rebounds in a game that saw six lead changes and a dozen ties.
Telfered scored 13 of Madison College’s 14 points in the second overtime, hitting 7 of 9 free throws in the final five minutes. Hoffman added 20 points in the game, seven rebounds and a team-high four assists.

Waubonsee Community College 97, Madison College 74
A big second half allowed Waubonsee to break open what had been a close game in the first half. Waubonsee scored 55 points in the second half to beat visiting Madison College, 97-74, on Nov. 5.
Telfered led Madison College with 19 points and five assists. Feller added 15 points, Porter had 12 and Hoffman scored 10.

Madison College 60, Mesabi Range 53
Down by 10 at halftime, Madison College outscored Minnesota North College-Mesabi Range, 40-23, in the second half to claim a 60-53 victory at home on Nov. 4.
Hoffman scored 18 points and had 13 rebounds to post a double-double. Porter scored 13 points, while Telfered added 10.
