Could you see the Bucks in the NBA Finals?

Bo Suh, Staff Writer

The NBA season has been held for a while, and everyone is wondering whether it is coming back or not. As a fan of the Milwaukee Bucks, owners of the best record in the NBA, I look forward to having NBA back sooner than later.

Here is my prediction of the NBA playoffs might turn out if nothing changes.

Eastern Conference

First Round

No. 1 Milwaukee Bucks (53-12) vs. No. 8 Orlando Magic (30-35), Milwaukee wins series 4-0.

No. 2 Toronto Raptors (46-18) vs. No. 7 Brooklyn Nets (30-34), Toronto wins series 4-1.

No. 3 Boston Celtics (43-21) vs. No. 6 Philadelphia 76ers (39-26), Philadelphia wins series 4-2.

No. 4 Miami Heat (41-24) vs. No. 5 Indiana Pacers (39-26), Miami wins series 4-3.

Semi-Final

Milwaukee Bucks vs. Miami Heat, Milwaukee wins series 4-1.

Toronto Raptors vs. Philadelphia 76ers, Philadelphia wins series 4-2.

Eastern Conference Final

Milwaukee Bucks vs. Philadelphia 76ers, Milwaukee wins series 4-3.

I am really high on Philadelphia 76ers because of their home record. Currently, NBA applies 2-2-1-1-1 series structure for home court games. This means that the higher seed team has two home court games, then the lower seed has two home court games, then the two teams rotate home court to end the seven-game series.

Home court advantage is a big factor in NBA as most teams have a better record at home games than away games. The Philadelphia 76ers have 29-2 home game record currently, which is the best in the NBA right now. That means that I predict that they would likely take all the home games.

However, I believe that the balanced home and away game record with home court advantage would allow the Milwaukee Bucks to advance to the NBA championship game; the Bucks have 28-3 home game record and 25-9 away game record.

Western Conference

First Round

No. 1 Los Angeles Lakers (49-14) vs. No. 8 Memphis Grizzlies (32-33), Lakers win series 4-0.

No. 2 Los Angeles Clippers (44-20) vs. No. 7 Dallas Mavericks (40-27), Clippers win series 4-2.

No. 3 Denver Nuggets (43-22) vs. No. 6 Houston Rockets (40-24), Denver wins series 4-1.

No. 4 Utah Jazz (41-23) vs. No. 5 Oklahoma City Thunder (40-24), Utah wins series 4-3.

Semi-Final

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Utah, Lakers win series 4-1.

Los Angeles Clippers vs. Denver, Clippers win series 4-3.

Western Conference Final

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Los Angeles Clippers, Lakers win series 4-3.

Both the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers have been teams many thought would reach the finals even before the season started, and they are currently No. 1 and No. 2 seed in the Western Conference. It is most likely that they will see each other unless some key player gets injured.

For me, this is also another flip the coin type of series. However, with the home court advantage, with LeBron James’ resurrection from injury, the Lakers will win the series in game 7. My prediction for this series would be Lakers, Clippers, Clippers, Lakers, Lakers, Clippers, and Lakers.

NBA Final

No. 1 Milwaukee Bucks vs. No. 1 Los Angeles Lakers, 4-2 Los Angeles Lakers.

The Bucks vs. the Lakers would be my NBA championship game prediction. The Bucks are a great team, but this is their first championship game in a while. On the other hand, LeBron James has been on the championship game numerous times.

I am rooting for the Bucks, but I think that the Lakers will be the champion this year. However, I strongly believe that the experience that the team has this year (whether a win or a loss) with the current squad, they will be able to be a NBA champion within a couple years.
