The women’s soccer team is no longer undefeated after a double overtime 2-1 loss to Harper College. The saturday game gave the WolfPack it’s first loss of the season after starting on a three game win streak.

The loss puts the ‘Pack at 2-1 in the conference, and 3-1 overall.

In those three games the ‘Pack scored a combined 13 goals to just one allowed. It’s early in the season but the team is looking just as dominant as last years team that scored 55 goals to just 10 allowed.

The second game of the season was against rival Joliet Junior College, the team that knocked the WolfPack out of the postseason last year. While beating Joliet only offers another victory in the win column, the Wolfpack was ready to make an early season statement.

Mary Raemisch kicked off the scoring just 90 seconds into the game on an assist from fellow sophomore Lillian Glackin. Joliet had an answer though as Kelly Kubicek let a goal in at the 19 minute mark. It’s the first time Kubicek has let in a goal in 108 minutes this season. For the second straight season the sophomore keeper has gone at least 100 minutes into a season without letting in a goal.

Raemisch would make sure the tie wouldn’t last though as she scored her second of the game with an assist from freshman defender Anna Cappaert. Fellow freshman Lydia Webster would scored next for her first career goal. Glackin got her second assist of the game while the WolfPack took a 3-1 lead.

Raemisch added her third goal of the game just before the half on an assist from Webster.

The second half was more of the same as the WolfPack would add two more goals, another by Raemisch with an assist from Cappaert, and one from freshman Lauren Thole, her first career goal, also giving Webster another assist.

The WolfPack continued to roll with it’s fresh No. 9 ranking with a game against Triton College on Sept. 4. It was the second game in a row with 5 or more goals scored, and the second game this seaons the ‘Pack has shut out their opponent.

Webster added another goal to her total at about the 12 minute mark of the game, and freshman Haylee Miles added her first career goal soon after. Jenna Kohrt scored just before the half, then Kohrt and Raemisch added late goals to finish the game.

On Sept. 7, the ‘Pack lost in double overtime 2-1 to Harper College.

The fist half was dominatedc by the WolfPack as they outshot Harper 9-2 but couldn’t score. The second half was just as dominate by the WolfPack as they outshot Harper again 12-3. Webster would be the first to score on a perfectly placed ball under the crossbar and over the keeper. Cappaert got the assist.

But Harper was able to score late in the game. It’s only the second goal that Madison College has given up this season.

Then the overtime started. The ‘Pack controlled the first overtime with four shots on net but weren’t able to convert. Unfortunately Harper was able to break through in the second overtime. The 105 minute game was mostly dominated by the WolfPack as they outshot Harper 25-6, but Harper got the winning goal on a miss played midfield kick.
