The Madison College men’s basketball team saw a quick exit from the Region IV tournament, losing to Elgin Community College, 90-79, in the first round on Feb. 25.

It was the third-straight year that Madison College was defeated in the semi-final round of the Region IV tournament.

Freshman forward Adam Anhold helped his team stay in the hunt throughout most of the game, scoring 32 points, his second-best scoring effort of the season.

Still, it wasn’t enough as Elgin outscored Madison College, 28-18, in the final 11 minutes to pull away.

Sophomore guard Sean Suchomel scored 15 points, while sophomore forward Alex Easterday added 10 points. Elgin managed to hold sophomore Jalen Addison to eight points in the game, almost half of the 15.6 points a game he averaged this season.

Madison College finished the season with a 14-13 overall record and an 8-6 conference record.

Three WolfPack players earned post-season honors. Anhold, Addison and Nathaniel Buss each earned various recognitions from the North Central Community College Conference and NJCAA Region IV.

Anhold was named first-team all-N4C, was the top vote getter for first-team all-region and was nominated for All-American. Addison and Buss were selected to the all-region second team.

Anhold led the team with 18.5 points and eight rebounds a game. He blocked 32 shots this season, the sixth highest for a single season in program history. He had six double-doubles on the season and scored a career high 35 points against Rock Valley on Jan. 5.

Addison averaged 15.6 points a game and 3.3 rebounds. He was second on the team in three-pointers made and led the squad in free throw percentage at 83 percent (73 of 88). He tied a school record with eight 3-pointers in a single game as he scored 43 against Wilbur Wright on Jan. 12.

Buss averaged 12.9 points, 3.1 assists and 2.0 rebounds a game. He led the team by hitting 166 of his 3-point attempts and was second on the team with 84 assists.
