WolfPack baseball team hopes to build momentum for tourney

The Madison College baseball team has made six-straight NJCAA Division II World Series appearances.

With less than a week remaining to the regular season, Madison College has six games to build momentum for a tournament run to keep that streak alive.

Madison College is currently 24-20-1 overall and finished North Central Community College Conference play at 15-8-1, good for third place behind Triton College and College of DuPage.

Kian O’Brien, Nate Schmidt and Nick Kanavas have led the WolfPack offense this season.

O’Brien is hitting .413 with eight doubles, a triple and two home runs. Schmidt is hitting .402 with four doubles and one home run. Kanavas is hitting .375 with a team-high four home runs and 43 runs scored.

Brandon Parr is leads the team from the mound with a 5-2 record. He has a .88 ERA in 41 innings pitched, allowing just 17 hits and striking out 37. Sam Lund has a 4-3 record and a 2.59 ERA, while Alec Haluzak is 4-1 with a 3.48 ERA.

Madison College has won three of its most recent six games, falling from second in the conference after getting swept by Rock Valley College in a doubleheader.
