Celebrate International Women’s Day

Tessa Morhardt, Editor in Chief

March 8 is International Women’s Day, a day to celebrate women and women’s rights. Women have come a long way in today’s society all around the world.

They have fought to be given the rights to many different things such as working, voting,  owning property, earning equal wages, etc.

Women today have more opportunities and chances than ever before.

The Global Fund for Women stated: “Winning rights for women is about more than giving opportunities to any individual, woman or girl; it is also about changing how countries and communities work. It involves changing laws and policies, winning hearts and minds, investing in strong women’s organizations and movements.”

Madison College will celebrate International Women’s Day on Monday, March 9, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Intercultural Exchange on the Truax Campus, Room C1430.

Award winning speaker Erika Gilchrist will be the featured keynote at the event. Stop in and enjoy snacks, group art projects, photo opportunities and giveaways.

The event is sponsored by the college’s Programs and Activities Council.
