Madison College’s Programs and Activities Council (PAC) hosted a spirit week from Sept. 14 through Sept. 18. PAC president Jena Yanagihashi says, “PAC created spirit week as a way for students to get excited for this semester. We know things are extremely difficult during this time, and it can be hard to feel like you’re a part of Madison College’s community, especially at the beginning of the school year. We just want to create events that students will enjoy and be proud about. We also want students to know that they’re a part of something.”

This year, spirit week was completely virtual. Each day there was a different theme, and students participated by posting and tagging PAC in their pictures and videos for that day’s theme.

The themes this year were Mask Monday (students posted photos wearing their masks), TikTok Tuesday (students posted or recreated TikTok videos), Pajama Wednesday (students posted pictures in their pjs), Throwback Thursday (students posted their favorite old photos), and MATC Friday (students showed off their school spirit by wearing Madison College gear).

Anyone who participated in spirit week was entered for the chance to win a gift card.

“We are using our social media accounts now more than ever to reach students and engage with them,” Yanagihashi says. She encourages students to follow PAC on social media to stay informed about future events, including their upcoming drive-in movie night.
