Free Library Mini-Workshops Offered This Fall

Autumn Hall-Tun, Librarian

The Madison College Libraries are offering a brand new way for you to get the help you need. All students are invited to check out our series of free mini-workshops which will help you get prepared for college, brush up on some skills and master the technology you need to succeed. The workshops are free and easy to attend. No pre-registration is required, although we will be limiting each workshop to six participants due to space considerations. The best part? Each workshop is designed with your busy schedule in mind at a quick 20 minutes.

Our workshop topics will include the following:

Get FREE Microsoft Office: Current students get Microsoft Office 365 for free. We’ll show you how to download and install the software. Bring your laptop or other personal device with you.

Blackboard Q&A: Have questions about how to use Blackboard? Come in and get help. Please note, assignment-related questions are best directed to your instructor.

Library 101: Learn what’s available in the library including textbook reserves, equipment, group study rooms, circulating materials, interlibrary loans and more. This will be a general overview intended for those new to our library or those who may want a refresher.

Create Your Own Design: We will highlight a couple of fun graphic creation websites to help you add that something extra to your class project. Never fear, no Adobe Photoshop or artistic skills are required.

Saved! H-Drive to the Rescue! Learn how to save files instead of losing them! We’ll show you how to access your personal storage on Madison College’s network.

Find the Articles You Need: Come in and get help using the college databases and finding reliable sources. Knowing where to look for the best sources will help you get better grades and make the research process easier.

Workshops provided will vary by location, ask your campus librarian what’s available near you. A schedule of all of our workshops will be available on our online calendar at: http://tinyurl.com/mcws2016
