Joe Steffen, Public Safety Officer

Public Safety Officers respond to many calls for service and we communicate our activities to the college community.  Here are some of the notable incidents from this past month.

On Feb. 19, Public Safety was notified by a regional campus that it was reported a student had a concealed weapon.  The local Police Department responded and seized the weapon and arrested the subject without incident.

On Feb. 20, Public Safety Officers responded to a threat outside campus. The Truax Campus was locked down because of a shooting that occurred near the campus as a precautionary measure.  The suspect was taken into custody and the campus resumed normal activity without incident.

On Feb. 24, Public Safety Officers responded to a male patient who was suffering from tightness in his chest and dizziness.  The patient was conscious however he was not very alert.  Officers rendered aid until Madison Paramedics arrived and transported the subject to a local hospital for further care.
