Public Safety report for Jan. 21, 2015

Joe Steffen, Public Safety Officer

Public Safety Officers respond to many calls for service and we communicate our activities to the college community.  Here are some of the notable incidents from this past month.

On Dec. 16, Public Safety Officers responded to a battery that occurred at the Downtown Campus.  A female was punched in the face by a male who fled the scene.  Madison Police responded and assisted Public Safety Officers in attempting to locate the male suspect.

On Jan. 14, Public Safety Officers responded it to a disorderly person at the Truax campus.  The situation escalated quickly and the subject began disrobing and becoming aggressive with Officers.  Madison Police arrived and, with assistance from Public Safety Officers, were able to take the subject into custody.  The subject was arrested by Madison Police.

Parking Reminder
A valid student parking permit is required for all vehicles parked at the Truax and Commercial Avenue campuses.  All vehicles must display a valid student permit at all times and park in designated areas only.

Designated parking areas for students are in marked stalls only.  Parking along curbs or on the grass is NOT allowed anywhere on Madison College campuses.  The Madison College Truax campus offers additional parking in our “overflow” lot across Anderson Street, adjacent to the Lussier Athletic Park, and off of Straubel Street.

Vehicles found in violation of the current college parking policy are subject to a parking citation and/or towing at the owner’s expense without warning.

Please call Public Safety at (608) 246-6932 if you have any questions.

If you have any information regarding the above incidents or other campus safety concerns, please contact our department at 245-2222; Public Safety Officers are available 24/7.
