Clarion staff win 14 state, regional awards

Members of The Clarion staff were presented with a total of 14 state and regional awards at two recent newspaper conferences.

The Clarion received four awards including first place award in “Best of Show for Two-Year College Newspapers” at the Associated Collegiate Press Best of the Midwest College Media Convention held in Minneapolis on Feb. 11-13.

Other awards received at the Best of the Midwest Convention were:

  • First place, page design, George Treviranus.
  • Third place, feature writing, Cristalyne Bell.
  • Third place, special section.

The Clarion received 10 awards including first place in “General Excellence” for non-daily newspapers at the Wisconsin Newspaper Association Convention held in Appleton on Feb. 11.

Other awards received at the WNA Convention were:

  • First place, best advertisement, Vishmaa Ramsaroop-Briggs.
  • Second place, graphics, Vishmaa Ramsaroop-Briggs.
  • Second place, column writing, Alisha Stahl.
  • Second place, general reporting, Vishmaa Ramsaroop-Briggs.
  • Third place, sports reporting, Matt Daniels.
  • Third place, sports column, Caleb Sanford.
  • Third place, web excellence.
  • Honorable mention, sports reporting, Matt Daniels.
  • Honorable mention, best editorial, Buddy Thompson.
