Wattpad, haven for writers to share stories with others

Mandy Scheuer, Office Manager

How do you prefer to write a story for a creative writing class? What about a script for a play? With Wattpad and Ao3, you can write about anything and everything.

When you are writing the introduction and table of contents, you select a tab from “non explicit” to “explicit.” But if you are going to write a story that has violence or strong words, please warn your readers by saying so in the first chapter.

Wattpad is one of several writing platforms that authors can use to view other writers’ stories, and even write stories of their own. Many authors have been using this ever since it came out in December of 2006. The website is https://www.wattpad.com/home if you want to check it out.

You could also use Archive of Our Own if you do not prefer Wattpad. Archive of Our Own, or Ao3, came out in 2009, and is another platform for writing. Use this link if you are interested – https://archiveofourown.org/?language_id=en.

Ao3 is different than Wattpad for many reasons, one being the word count for a chapter in Ao3 is 1,000 words. Wattpad’s word count is 2,000 words per chapter. However, writers can continue their writing by simply adding a new chapter to their stories.

I have a Wattpad that I use for writing fan fiction. Fan fiction is fiction written by a fan of, and featuring characters from, a particular TV series, movies, etc. Some movies I am a fan of are Harry Potter, Star Wars, Maze Runner, Hunger Games and Marvel. I am in the process of writing fan fiction about what would happen if I got my letter from Hogwarts. If you want to read about this adventurous, funny and magical story, feel free to follow me on Wattpad. My username is Multifandom_Bookworm.
