‘Going Bovine’

Allison Althof, Staff Writer

When a friend of mine first told me about this book the title made me a little nervous, but, before I knew it, I was hooked. The story revolves around a teenager named Cameron, aka Cam, who is kind of a slacker. Everything is fairly normal, until he finds out that he is going to die. Then, suddenly, out of nowhere a sugar-loving angel named Dulce tells Cam that there is a cure to his illness. After breaking out of the hospital, he encounters a group of characters that are anything but normal, and with this newly found group of people, he takes off on this journey to find this unknown cure.

A lot of readers called “Going Bovine” a funny book, but I found it more entertaining than hilarious. That being said, it’s really hard to get a strong emotional reaction from me while I’m reading.

There are only two books that have made me cry and laughing is out of the question. But, every reader has a different taste and a different emotional strength. In my opinion, “Going Bovine” was a fun book to read with great, well-developed characters.

There isn’t a lot I can say about this book without giving too much of the plot away. What I can say, however, is that this was a wonderful book to read, but the only way to know that is to pick it up for yourself.

This book showed me that sometimes it’s not the journey that matters, but the things you learn and the people you meet along the way. So go pick up a copy of “Going Bovine” today.
