Seven matches played so far this season. Seven matches won. It’s been a perfect start for the Madison College men’s soccer team, which was ranked No. 17 in the NJCAA Division II poll on Sept. 15.
The WolfPack has outscored its opponents, 29-4, this season with stellar defense leading the way.
Madison College has not allowed more than one goal in any match this season and has posted three shutouts. The four goals allowed is tied for eighth in the nation for fewest allowed.
Freshman goalie Caylen Coventry has allowed just three goals in 430 minutes in goal with six saves and two shutouts. The other defenders on the team deserve credit as well, helping to limit opponents to just 13 shots on goal through seven matches.
In its most recent outing, Madison College upended Rock Valley College, 4-1, scoring three times in the second half to secure the win.
Rock Valley took an early lead with a goal 17 minutes into the match, but the WolfPack rallied to tie late in the first half.
Hudson Nielson scored the first of his two goals in the match off a pass from Carson Stebbins at the 41-minute mark. His other goal, scored with about 10 minutes left in the match, gave him six on the season.
The go-ahead goal came on a penalty kick by Cole Rogers about 20 minutes into the second half. The goal was Rogers’ fourth of the season.
Josh Kiltz scored the only other goal in the match off a pass from Johan Lopez at the 76-minute mark. It was his third goal of the season.
Madison College starts a four-game home stand on Sept. 14 with a match against Triton College at 6:30 p.m. That is followed by matches with Parkland College on Sept. 27, South Suburban College on Oct. 1 and Moraine Valley Community College on Oct. 5.

Madison College 3, Waubonsee Community College 1
Hudson Nielsen scored twice to help lead Madison College to a 3-1 victory over Waubonsee Community College at home on Sept. 13.
Nielsen opened the scoring just over five minutes into the game off a pass from Cole Rogers. After Waubonsee tied the game, Nielsen then struck again with a goal off a pass from Mason Leslie at the 32 minute mark.
The final goal came nine minutes later, when Guilherme Amaral scored his first career goal by deflecting a shot from Geo Prado into the goal.
Madison College 9, Kankakee Community College 1
Cole Rodgers and Josh Kiltz each scored multiple goals as Madison College defeated Kankakee Community College, 9-1, at home on Sept. 10.
Rodgers got his first career hat trick, scoring twice in the first half and once in the second half. Kiltz scored two goals, back-to-back in the second half. Others who scored goals in the match were Rodrigo Lasso, Johan Lopez, Junior Guerrero and Carson Stebbins.
Madison College 1, Oakton College 0
Madison College posted its third-straight shutout victory on Sept. 6, defeating Oakton College, 1-0, in Des Plaines, Illinois. Freshman goalkeeper Caylen Coventry recorded his second shutout while sophomore Jacob Unger scored a second-half goal.
Madison College 8, Malcolm X College 0
Seven different players scored in Madison College’s 8-0 victory over visiting Malcolm X College on Sept. 3. Hudson Nielsen scored two goals to lead the team.
Paul Glashagen, JJ Espinosa, Junior Guerrero, Lucas Dogru, Carson Stebbins and Johan Lopez each scored once. Madison College dominated offensively, taking 27 shots compared to six for Malcolm X.
Madison College 2, Carl Sandburg College 0
Two second-half goals lifted Madison College over visiting Carl Sandburg College, 2-0, on Aug. 30. The first goal came 64 minutes into the match when Unger scored off a pass from Rodrigo Lasso.
Lopez then scored the WolfPack’s second goal at the 88:42 mark, off a pass from Will Skinner. Coventry earned the win in goal, posting a shutout with one save.
