A four-match sweep this past weekend provided Madison College volleyball team plenty of momentum as it heads into the closing stretch of the season.
It all started with a match-up of two ranked teams, with 18th-ranked Madison College upending 11th-ranked Sauk Valley Community College in the first match of the Madison College Quad on Oct. 10.
The WolfPack then followed that up with wins over Carl Sandburg College, Joliet Junior College and Triton College.
The first set of Madison College’s match against Sauk Valley took a few extra points to decide. Madison College prevailed, 29-27, setting the stage for a victory.
Sauk Valley battled back, handily winning the second set, 25-16.
But Madison College didn’t stay down for long, rebounding with a 25-22 win in the third set and taking the fourth set, 25-20, to win the match.
Outside hitter Sam Schulz led the way with 15 kills in the match, while setter Allie Andrews had 45 assists. Defensively, middle blocker Caylee Coggins came up big with seven blocks and Avery Agnew added 34 digs.
In the next match of the quad, Madison College scored a three-set victory over Carl Sandburg College, winning, 25-13, 25-14, 25-14.
Schulz again led the team in kills with 15, while Andrews had 24 assists. Coggins posted three blocks, while Agnew had 25 digs.
On Oct. 11, Madison College won both its matches in the Triton College Triangular, beating both Joliet Junior College and Triton College in three sets.
After a close first set against Joliet, Madison College handily won the next two sets to record a 25-23, 25-15, 25-15 victory. Schulz and Ella Vosberg both had nine kills to lead the WolfPack. Coggins added six blocks, while Agnew had 23 digs.
The match against Triton College was similar, except the final set was the close one. Madison College scored a 25-18, 25-16, 26-24 win. Vosberg had 11 kills in the match to lead the team, while Tricia Klum had 23 assists.
Madison College now stands at 24-4, with match against in-state rival Milwaukee Area Technical College coming up next. The WolfPack hosts the 24-5 Stormers on Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. Madison College then hosts a tournament on Oct. 24-25.

Madison College 3, Bryant & Stratton College 0
Cora Webster tied a school record for aces as Madison College made quick work of visiting Bryant & Stratton College in a 25-10, 25-10, 25-13 victory on Oct. 7. Webster had 11 aces in the three sets, matching a record set by Kristin Brochtrup in 2006.
Sam Shultz had 16 kills to lead the team, while Ella Vosberg and Makalya Dallas both had six. Tricia Klum led the team with 17 assists.
Madison College 3, Spoon River College 0
Madison College wrapped up its four games in the Parkland College Tournament on Oct. 4 by beating Spoon River College for the second time this season. The WolfPack wone 25-11, 25-19, 25-18 to finish the tournament with a 2-2 record.
Vosberg led the way with nine kills, while Klum had 14 assists and Sammy Johnson had nine. Avery Agnew led the team in digs with 18.
Madison College 3, Lincoln Land Community College 0
Madison College opened the second day of the Parkland College Tournament with a 25-19, 25-13, 25-21win against Lincoln Land Community College on Oct. 4.
Schultz was the only player with double-digit kills, recording 11 in the match. She also had 17 digs in the match for her fourth double-double of the season. Allie Andrews recorded 19 assists, while Klum had 16.
Danville Area Community College 3, Madison College 1
Danville Area Community College held off Madison College to record a 27-25, 25-15, 21-25, 25-23 victory over the WolfPack in the second match of the Parkland College Tournament on Oct. 3.
Vosberg led Madison College with 15 kills in the match, while Andrews had 24 assists and three aces. Klum added 13 assists and 11 digs.
Parkland College 3, Madison College 1
Sixth-ranked Parkland College upended Madison College, 23-25, 25-20, 25-18, 25-18, in the opening match of the Parkland College Tournament on Oct. 3. Despite winning the first set of the match, the WolfPack was unable to hold off Parkland.
Vosberg and Dallas both had 12 kills to lead the WolfPack. Dallas added 12 digs to post her second double-double of the season. Schultz had eight kills, 10 digs and two blocks.
Madison College 3, Rock Valley College 0
Visiting Madison College made short work of rival Rock Valley College, with a 25-14, 25-20, 25-16 victory on Sept. 25. Vosberg led the WolfPack with 13 kills on 21 attempts, while Andrews had 32 assists.
