It has been of a bit of a rough stretch for the Madison College’s women’s soccer team lately. The team stands at 8-4-1 this season, but has lost three of its last four matches.
Those losses came to South Suburban College, Moraine Valley Community College and Lincoln Land Community College.
The only bright spot during the stretch was a 3-0 win over Bryant & Stratton College, the only match in which Madison College scored more than one goal.
Most recently, Madison College lost to Lincoln Land Community College, 2-1, at home on Oct. 11.
Lincoln Land scored twice in the first half to take a 2-0 lead 25 minutes and 44 seconds into the match.
Madison College was held scoreless until Reese Brekke found the net at 84:46 off a pass from Lexi Huebner.
Up next for Madison College is a home match against Joliet Junior College on Oct. 15. The team then travels to College of DuPage on Oct. 19 and Milwaukee Area Technical Colege on Oct. 22.
Madison College 3, Bryant & Stratton 0
Three second-half goals gave visiting Madison College a 3-0 win over Bryant & Stratton College on Oct. 8 and ended a two-match losing streak for the WolfPack.
Freshman Hayleigh Motelet scored her first collegiate goal early in the second half, scoring on a wide-open net off a pass from Suzy Hinds Cruz. After that, Ava Schmidt and Hinds Cruz both added goals to help secure the win.
Madison College dominated with 21 shots, including 12 on goal. Bryant & Stratton was held without a shot the entire match.

Moraine Valley CC 1, Madison College 0
Madison College was shut out for the second straight match of the season, falling to Moraine Valley Community College, 1-0, at home on Oct. 5.
The WolfPack had a 12-5 advantage in total shots and a 6-4 edge in shots on goal, but were unable to convert allowing Moraine Valley’s first half goal to stand up.
South Suburban College 2, Madison College 0
Visiting South Suburban College scored two first half goals and held Madison College scoreless on its way to a 2-0 victory on Oct. 1
Madison College struggled offensively throughout the match, generating only four total shots and just three on goal. South Suburban, meanwhile, had 20 shots and seven on goal.
Madison College 1, Waubonsee Community College 0
Sophomore Suzy Hinds Cruz scored the only goal of the match to lift Madison College to a 1-0 victory over visiting Waubonsee Community College on Sept. 27. Cruz scored off a pass from Ava Schmidt near the end of the first half. Madison College goalie Kaelyn Welch earned her fifth shutout of the season, with a save on the only shot on goal she faced all match.
Madison College 2, Triton College 1
A pair of second half goals enabled Madison College to rally past Triton College, 2-1, at home on Sept. 24.
Reese Brekke game up with an unassisted goal at the 46 minute mark to tie the match. The game-winning goal came from Suzy Hinds Cruz about 20 minutes later, when she sent a kick toward the goal that bounded off the goalkeeper, the crossbar and the ground.
