History in women’s boxing is about to happen. On Friday July 11, 2025, two of the biggest names in women’s boxing square off in the main event of the first all-women’s boxing card at Madison Square Garden. This will be a cannot-miss historic night in women’s boxing, and it starts with the main event.
The main event on this card will be two of the biggest names in women’s boxing, Amanda Serrano, and the undisputed lightweight champion Katie Taylor. Serrano comes into this fight with 47 wins and 31 by knockout, with also three losses and one draw. She comes into this fight as the challenger to the unified world super lightweight champion Taylor, who has 24 wins 6 by knockout and one loss. This will be the third time these two will meet.
The first time these two took the ring was back in 2022, which was also at Madison Square Garden. It was an instant classic. Taylor and Serrano had much to live up to in their first meeting, which was labeled as the biggest fight in women’s boxing history. This fight exceeded the highest expectations with Taylor winning a split decision in a back-and-forth war with Serrano to retain and stay the undisputed lightweight champion. Both women after the fight were down to run it back for a rematch and two years later, we got the rematch.
For their second fight, they found themselves in the co-main event for the Jake Paul and Mike Tyson card, and these two fighters stole the show in a back-and-forth war making it hard to determine who would win the fight.
After a head clash, a cut opened above Serrano’s right eye in round six of ten, she fought the remaining four rounds with one eye. But the head clash that made that cut was not the first and only head clash in that fight which led to Taylor eventually having a point taken away at the end of round eight due to her leading with her head in exchanges with Serrano.
After all that, just like the first fight, it goes to the judges’ score cards where Taylor had won unanimously, which had shocked the boxing world. After the fight, Serrano and her head trainer talked about how Taylor lead with her head and was constantly clashing heads which led to the cut and then Taylor rubbing her head into the cut to make it worse, which led to people think Taylor may be a dirty fighter and if that cut doesn’t happen how does that fight really end.
Both women were some of the best to ever put on the gloves and with all the controversy surrounding their last fight and just how close both were between them.
There is no doubt that this fight for the trilogy for all the gold would headline a historic night in boxing in the most famous arena in the world the mecca Madison Square Garden where this all started. And that is just the main event. There are more fights to be reviled for this card to make July 11 that much more memorable, and if that doesn’t excite you again, just go watch Taylor vs Serrano one and two just to get a feel for what the main event is going to be. Be ready for history on July 11.
A main event you won’t soon forget
