The office for Career and Employment Services brought together local businesses and Madison College students at the fifth annual Internship Fair on Oct. 7.
This event included tabling from 35 different businesses as well as free professional headshots for students.
The Internship Fair is organized to help students network with local businesses and find internships in their chosen career field.
“In our most recent graduate survey, 53% of Madison College graduate respondents who participated in an internship reported their internship led to an offer of employment,” David LeClair, Manager of Career and Employment Services, said when highlighting the importance of internships.
“For the college, internship fairs help promote work-based learning and support students in developing the skills and experiences needed for career readiness,” LeClair said.
Not only do students benefit from this event, but so do the employers and the college.
“Madison College has a large diversity of students, and that’s a big reason why we’re here,” said Javian Dayne, recruiter for City of Madison.
“They’re really valuable to being out in the field,” said Brook Weiss, recruitment and employee engagement specialist for JT Engineering when talking about the company’s search for civil engineer technicians.
Students who missed this event and are looking for resources for internship information and opportunities can log-in to Handshake, a platform for career services.
All employers that attended the Internship Fair can be found on Handshake, as well as many more.
Students are also encouraged to visit the office for Career and Employment Services in Truax Room C1438 to learn more or make an appointment.
