Madison College Performing Arts will kick off the fall season with a Halloween-themed vignette, “ScAre We Delicious,” directed by Stacey Garbarski.
The production is in partnership with local troupe “Are We Delicious?” an ensemble of writer-performers known in the Madison area for producing one-hour original works in just one week.
Unlike the rapid turnaround of “Are we Delicious,” “ScAre We Delicious” will be a student-driven production where students will spend three weeks collaboratively writing, rehearsing and performing.
The vignettes will give students the opportunity to explore a variety of positions that are essential in creating and executing a successful show.
Using AWDs’ system called “the Matrix,” performers will spend the first week learning how to write a script, followed by two weeks of rehearsals. Every performer will serve as a lead actor at least twice throughout the Oct. 23 to Nov. 1 show run.
The system is designed to ensure that writing and acting responsibilities are assigned equally among the cast members.
Auditions are open to everyone and will be held Sept. 29 and Sept. 30 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Studio Theater, Room A2031, on the second floor of Madison College’s Truax Campus.
Students who sign up will receive an email with instructions and a writing prompt on Saturday, Sept. 27. Due to the condensed timeline, auditioners should consider the completion and submission of the prompt on time as a part of their audition. Auditions will also include improv. and movement exercises.
Those auditioning should provide contact information and list any scheduling conflicts during the Sept. 29 through Nov.1 timeline.
