In 2010, the National Tutoring Association launched National Tutor Appreciation Week to honor the work of tutors in learning centers in colleges and universities all over the country. This year, the week to honor our tutors is Oct. 6-10.

The Student Achievement Centers at Madison College provide many hours of tutoring services in many subject areas, Monday through Friday, both in-person and online.

You may have even seen embedded tutors or supplemental instruction leaders in your classrooms.

This week is to honor those peer tutors, supplemental instruction leaders, Academic Engagement Partners (professional tutors) and faculty tutors that help students throughout the year in the Student Achievement Centers.

The Student Achievement Centers operate at six Madison College campuses and online, with over 40 tutors, providing over 200 hours per week of tutoring availability.

In our spring 2025 survey, 97% believe that tutoring services helped them to succeed. Whether you are struggling to understand a difficult concept in a required course or are loving every second but just want to turn a B into an A, you can find a tutor to meet your needs. If you haven’t considered tutoring services before, it isn’t too late.

Tutoring helps encourage higher-level thinking and improves self-esteem.

It also helps students develop essential learning skills and critical thinking skills. Students who participate in tutoring services are more likely to graduate from college.

Please join us in celebrating all our tutors’ contributions to the academic success of many Madison College students and find out more about the tutoring services that are available for free to all Madison College students.

All week long we will be celebrating with treats, thank you notes and tutor spotlights. There will even be therapy dogs on Wednesday, Oct. 8

Faculty and students are invited to drop in everyday of National Tutor Appreciation Week to celebrate our tutors and find out how to participate in Student Achievement Centers’ services.
