
Madison College has released updated guidelines for the use of personal electric vehicles across all campuses. These guidelines apply to students, employees, visitors, and contractors and cover a wide range of battery-powered devices including e-bikes, e-scooters, electric skateboards, and mobility scooters.
Why the Guidelines Matter
The guidelines aim to reduce conflicts between personal electric vehicles and pedestrians, bicycles, mopeds, and vehicles while providing clear direction for those who need accommodations.
Rules to Know
- Speed limits: Personal electric vehicles must operate at walking speed in pedestrian areas.
- Parking: Only designated bicycle racks may be used unless accommodations are approved.
- Charging: Charging is not permitted outside or inside of Madison College facilities without approved accommodations.
- Indoor use: Riding, storing, or charging personal electric vehicles inside buildings is prohibited without approved accommodations.
- Safety: Use of headphones is restricted to one ear for phone use only.
- Abandoned vehicles: personal electric vehicles left stagnant for seven days will be removed by facilities.
- Reclaiming personal electric vehicles: Owners must prove ownership at designated campus locations.
- Unclaimed personal electric vehicles: After 30 days, unclaimed vehicles will be auctioned, with no reimbursement provided.
