A Hispanic Heritage Month Kick-Off event is set for Thursday, Sept. 18, from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the Intercultural Exchange, Truax Room C1430. Connect with the Mi Gente Unida student club, enjoy performances by local artists, sample treats, and learn about ways to connect with the Hispanic community.
The Intercultural Exchange has several other Hispanic Heritage Month events planned in the coming week:
- Tuesday, Sept. 23, 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. – Let’s Taki-Out. Come chat with the Mi Gente Unida student club. Grab a bag, Taki, and let’s talk it out with MGU.
- Wednesday, Sept. 24, 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. – Centro Hispano. Discover ways to get involved in your community. Centro Hispano, a local non-profit organization, will let students know about their resources and how to volunteer.
- Thursday, Sept. 25, 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. – Catching Culture: Portraying Our Identity. Madison artist Angelica Contreras will host a one-on-one workshop where participants will explore mixed media techniques using collage and acrylic to create their own artwork.
These events are sponsored by the Intercultural Exchange and the United Common Ground.
