Madison College students can meet Bailey the therapy dog on Wednesday, Sept. 17, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Student Wellness Center, Room 101 in the Health Building. Bailey is from the Wisconsin-based organization, Dogs On Call. The visit is sponsored by Student Health Education.
Therapy dogs like Bailey are different from service dogs, who are trained to help people with specific disabilities. Their role is to provide comfort and affection to people other than their handlers. They have been shown to have a positive impact on people’s mood and stress levels and can even reduce the severity of depression and anxiety.
So if you are feeling a little stressed from the start of a new semester, stop by the Student Wellness Center on Sept. 17 and visit with Bailey. If you have questions, email [email protected].
