Movie fans of all ages who enjoy the classic Disney films we all know and love such as “Cinderella,” “Lady and the Tramp” and “Treasure Planet” will enjoy this modern spin on one of Disney’s most beloved stories, “Cruella.”
There have been two other live action adaptations following the “101 Dalmatians” storyline. This one is more of a prequel or a backstory to set up for the Glenn Close “101 Dalmatians” film from 1996, as stated by IMDB review webpage.
“Cruella” follows the story of a little girl named Ella, played by Emma Stone, just wanting to make her mark in the big world as a fashion designer that has a few obstacles along the way like anyone hoping to achieve their goals.
This new and improved story is filled with humor, suspense and, of course, fashion!
Within the movie, the viewers are introduced to a new villain, Baroness, played by Emma Thompson. Baroness is the idolized fashion icon and runs the most popular fashion brands in that time period. Watch Ella try and make it into the industry. I cannot say much more without giving away the rest of the plot but if you enjoy a modern spin on an older classic Disney film then this movie is for you!
The film is centered around Ella and achieving her dream of making it big as a modern fashion designer despite others finding her odd or too inexperienced to make it in the industry. Everyone knows the story of Cruella from the original “101 Dalmatians,” but do you know the full story? What made her the powerful fashion icon we know today?
I personally enjoy this remake of the “101 Dalmatians” franchise more than the 1996 Glenn Close rendition.
A handful of people I have spoken to did not overly enjoy this movie and thought it was too dull or did not have much of a plot. I think differently, but that is for you to make up your own opinion.
There is a Rotten Tomatoes review of the newest release for a score of 74% on the scale. This new and improved story is filled with humor, suspense and, of course, fashion!
Everyone has their own opinions of the older classics being renewed but I would personally give this revised tale two paws up, way up!
