Letter to the Editor

Dear Madison College Students,

As you and your classmates know, we have great faculty at Madison College that teach and support each of you in more than 140 different programs. Our faculty focus on helping you to reach your fullest potential; putting you on the path to achieve your dreams.

In January, we began a college-wide effort related to increasing student success by having faculty engage students through some specific practices. Those are: providing assignments and assessments early in the semester; learning students’ names; sending a welcome letter; having a brief conversation with students early in the semester; making basic use of Blackboard to publish a syllabus and post assessments of student progress.

With the semester coming to an end, we’re interested in hearing your stories about your relationships with our faculty. Was your experience this semester different than prior semesters? What did your faculty member do to make your experience positive and successful?

If you have a story that you’d be willing to have shared with the college community next fall, please contact me at

Thank you and best wishes with finals.
