Madison College Public Safety

Public Safety Officers respond to many calls for service and we communicate our activities to the college community.  Here are some of the notable incidents from the past couple weeks:

On Sept. 22, Public safety received a theft complaint from a vendor at the Truax campus. The vendor momentarily left an undisclosed amount of cash unattended and it was stolen. Please remember not to leave any property unattended.

On Sept. 26, Public Safety along with the Madison Fire Department and Madison Police Department responded to the Truax Health Education building for a student that had stopped breathing. Lifesaving measures took place until paramedics arrived. The student was then transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.

On Oct. 2, Public Safety along with Madison Paramedics responded to a student that had fallen in a restroom and hit her head near the Truax campus Gateway. Public Safety rendered aid to the student until Paramedics transported her to a local hospital.

On Oct. 4, Public Safety received a theft of cash complaint from the Truax “B” hallway area. The victim’s property was unattended for a short period of time. When she retrieved her items, cash was missing. Please keep and take all belongings with you when traveling on campus throughout your day.

Public Safety Update

Due to some recent reports of theft, we would like to remind everyone not to leave property unattended. Here are a few more helpful tips:

Do not leave valuables in your car left in plain view. Keep all belongings with you when traveling around campus or ask a friend to keep an eye on your things temporarily. Close office and lab doors behind you when you leave. Be mindful of your surroundings and avoid using your cell phone at night when walking to your vehicle. If you witness what you believe to be theft or any suspicious behavior, please notify Public Safety immediately using the number provided below.

Our department has rescued several animals that happen to find their way onto our campuses in the past couple years. In our photo is a pup who managed to lock himself in the baseball field area for a long period of time. For more cool stories like this and to see what we are up to, please check out our Facebook and Twitter pages! Be sure to follow @PublicSafetyMC to stay informed of what’s happening on your campus.
