Public Safety Officers respond to many calls for service and we communicate our activities to the college community.  Here are some of the notable incidents from the past couple weeks: 

On Aug. 24, Officers responded to an elevator entrapment in the Truax main building. Four people were trapped inside the elevator. The Madison Fire Department was contacted and safely released the occupants without further incident.

On Aug. 30, Officers received a suspicious activity complaint from a student parking lot at Truax. An unidentified suspect had searched through the complainant’s vehicle but did not take anything. If you witness suspicious behavior on campus, notify Public Safety immediately.

Also on Aug. 30, Public Safety received a theft complaint in which a student had both his license plates stolen from his vehicle parked in a student parking lot at Truax.

On Aug. 31, Public Safety provided a vehicle unlock for a student that locked their keys inside their vehicle on campus. Public Safety has conducted a total of 54 vehicle unlocks since the beginning of the fall semester last year.

On Sept. 1, Public Safety received a theft from vehicle complaint in a student parking lot at Truax. A small sum on cash and an electronic cable were stolen from the vehicle.

Due to recent reports, we would like to remind everyone of a few tips for your safety. Please lock your car doors and roll up your windows when parking your vehicle on campus property. Do not leave valuables in plain sight. Remember, overnight parking at Madison College is prohibited. If you have any concerns or questions regarding parking lot safety, please call our dispatchers at 608-246-6932. For immediate or emergent assistance, please call the number provided below.
