A sophomore on the women’s basketball team, Rachel Slaney earned NJCAA Honorable Mention All-American recognition last season. As a freshman, she started 28 of 30 games and scored 15.9 points a game and had 8.3 rebounds a game. After four games this year, Slaney averages 24 points and 10 rebounds a game, both are team highs.

A graduate of Barneveld High School, where she was a four-sport athlete. Slaney was named all conference all four years and all state and team caption her sophomore through senior seasons. The daughter of Pat and Nancy Slaney and Elizabeth Field, she is a dental hygienist major.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

SHANE WALDON

A 6-7 forward on the men’s basketball team, Shane Waldon is a transfer student from UW-Whitewater, where he played in 18 games as a freshman in 2014-15. This season he leads the WolfPack in scoring with 14.0 points a game and is second in rebounding with 3.6 a game. He has an impressive .646 shooting percentage (31 of 48).

Waldon is a graduate of Sun Prairie High School, where he earned honorable mention honors in the Big 8 Conference as a senior.  A liberal arts major, he is the son of Sally Waldon. His sisters, Alyssa and Courntey, played basketball for Chicago State.
