Madison College women’s basketball now ranked No. 2 in NJCAA Divsion III

By opening the season with 10-straight victories, the Madison College women’s basketball team now finds itself ranked No. 2 in the NJCAA Division III national poll.

Not only has the team been winning, but it’s been winning big.

Madison College beat Elgin Community College, 70-34, at home on Dec. 5, following the team’s season-long trend of scoring double-digit victories.

Jenna Endres led Madison College with 26 points, followed by Taylor Nelson’s 15 points and Rachel Slaney’s 10 points. Nelson also had nine rebounds and five assists to lead the WolfPack.

A phenomenal defensive effort powered the victory. Madison College allowed only nine points in the first half and it took a 42-9 lead after the second quarter.

The team also shot well from behind the 3-point line, hitting 8 of 16 in the first half.

Madison College’s will play at home against UW-Waukesha on Dec. 11.

Madison College 76, Western Technical College 59

Although the got off to a slower than usual start, Madison College was able to turn a 3-point halftime lead into another double-digit win, beating Western Technical College, 76-59, on Dec. 2.

Rachel Slaney led Madison College with a game-high 27 points and nine rebounds.

Madison College 75, Rochester 61

A big night from behind the three-point line for Nelson helped propel Madison College to a 75-61 victory over Rochester on Nov. 24. Nelson scored a game-high 28 points as she hit 4 of 5 shots she took from behind the 3-point line.
