Public Safety

Public+Safety

Sgt. Joe Steffen & Dispatcher David Manthey

Public Safety Officers respond to many calls for service and we communicate our activities to the college community.  Here are some of the notable incidents from the past couple weeks.

On March 2, Public Safety Officers responded to a single vehicle crash in the Truax Student Parking Lot-A area. A vehicle was found to have slid into a nearby ditch.  There were no injuries to the driver, however the vehicle was totaled and removed by a towing company.

On March 3, Public Safety was notified by counseling staff of a male student in crisis that ran out of their appointment.  Officers quickly identified the student and confronted him in the Health Education Building.  The student was uncooperative with officers and was taken into custody by the Madison Police Department where he was then transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.

On March 10, officers responded to an elderly woman who fell in the Truax Gateway.  Officers administered first-aid to the patient until Madison Paramedics arrived.  The woman had facial injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
