Student Senate has come up with a solution to the drabness of the cafeteria – murals.

Raquel Manning the mind behind the artwork taking place in the cafeteria was looking for a way to beautify the temporary drywall panels that were put over the windows during the 2015-2016 Madison College construction.

The paint for these murals was donated to the Senate by hardware stores throughout Madison.

“Not only has it been a fun experience for students, the murals have drawn curiosity towards the different clubs and organizations that Madison College has to offer,” said Jackie Dahlke, Student Senate advisor.

Dahlke is proud of how fast Manning’s idea went from talk to action.

“Usually there is a lot of talk but it’s hard to get it all started. Raquel is great at making things happen,” Dahlke said.

Isaac Brown, a member of Student Senate and an artist is working on a mural that brings together his love for Dragon Ball Z and the two Madison mascots Bucky Badger and Wolfie into a creative masterpiece.

“I know that it is only temporary and will be torn down in May but I don’t mind,” said Brown. “It was a fun experience.”

The Senate is hoping that with the growing popularity of the murals the college will be able to find a more permanent place for student artwork throughout the coming year.
