Hurts Donut is a new shop located at 2831 Parmenter St. in Middleton. Its popularity means you may need to wait 30 to 90 minutes for your handcrafted doughnut.

Don’t plan on eating anything else the day you decide to go to Hurts Donut. The specialty donut bakery opened on Oct. 12, located at 2831 Parmenter Street in Middleton. They boast serving an average of 15,000 donuts a day, and there is good reason for such large numbers.

They have dozens of varieties, which they cycle throughout the day. If you’ve been there before and are expecting your favorite donut, you may be disappointed to find that it’s not being served at that time. But disappointment will soon be replaced by excitement at the chance to experience a new favorite.

The bakery has countless cereal-topped donuts, so if you feel bad that you’re eating donuts for breakfast, you can pretend it’s part of a balanced meal. Candy themed donuts, covered in chocolate with toffee drizzle, bits of toffee pieces scattered on top, these are the kinds of treats you’re going to find.

The appeal of the shop is not only the variety you can find there, but the unique of the donuts, which you won’t be able to find anywhere else. You can choose between something a little tame, although just as delicious, like the Pink Lemonade donut, or if you’re looking for something exciting, try the German Chocolate Cake donut, drowning in chocolate and filled with a rich coconut.
Wait times are still running about 30-90 minutes, depending on the hour. Hurts Donut is aware of this, and claims that the wait is necessary.

The donuts are each made and decorated by hand, taking about three hours from start to finish. I can tell you, the wait is worth it. However, if you are in a hurry, Hurts Donut tries to update their estimated wait times on their Facebook page.

The donuts are worth the price, too. For $2, you get a donut that is as tall as a standard coffee cup and wider than the palm of your hand. For three dollars, you can get the Maple Bacon Longjohn, which is by far my favorite. The maple frosting is not as sweet as other maple frostings, which is something I appreciate. The bacon they sprinkle on top is fresh, and they do not skimp.
Hurts Donut is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I believe that this will be my new favorite spot.

The staff is always full of smiles, the donuts are some of the best I’ve ever had, and the price is definitely worth what you are paying for.
